Deep in the Icelandic Interior
9 október, 2007
In Recent years I have been forced by my deepest emotions to be in the Icelandic Interior in the last days of autumn, just before the winter moves in whit all his power, snow, cold, and blizzards. So this weekend I went up there whit my friend Jon where I took this picture. If you really want to get away from it all and forget who you are and what you are, then go to the interior of Iceland on the last day of autumn. It is nothing like you have every experienced before.
The mountainous terrain with its rocky deserts, craggy mountain peaks, icecaps, volcanoes, hidden valleys, hot springs, and lakes, is an awesome untouched wilderness.
Nature has painted the mountains, lakes, and moss, in yellows, greens and the blue sky in a shade you cannot describe in words.
The arctic lake beauty blooms bright magenta on this October day, where you can breath the clean air into your lungs, and can see where the lake starts to freeze, and you feel nature go to sleep for the long winter.
The interior was long all but accessible. Outlaws hid out for years at one time in the highlands, rustling sheep and keep away from law abiding citizens. While folklore tells of both natural and supernatural beings, who lay in wait for unwary highland travelers.
But journeys across the interior, were never undertaken lightly; such travel was always risky and lives were often lost.
Weather in the interior is always unpredictable, and fast flowing glacial rivers are difficult obstacles.

Oh this is stunning. Breathtaking
Wow… what a beautiful scene. The stress seems to just melt away when looking at it. Thanks for sharing your wonderful photos. You are truly talented.
